SPLG Annual Conference 2014 

The Scottish Public Law Group Annual Conference 2014 is taking place on Monday 9 June 2014.

The speakers and chairs for this full day conference include Lady Stacey, Senator of the College of Justice, Sheriff Murphy QC, Theodore Huckle QC, Counsel General for Wales, John Larkin QC, Attorney General for Northern Ireland, Gerry Moynihan QC (Faculty of Advocates), Douglas Ross (Faculty of Advocates), Lynda Towers (Scottish Parliament), Professor Gordon Anthony (Queen’s University), Professor Niamh Nic Shuibhne (Edinburgh University) and Richard Gordon QC (Brick Court Chambers).

The conference will comprise five sessions. The first of the morning sessions will consider public law developments in Scotland. John Larkin QC then intends to speak from his experience as the Attorney General for Northern Ireland on the role of law officers in the UK.  The third session aims to provide the annual update on public law developments in England and the EU, as well a consideration of public law issues in the Haas Peace Process. Theodore Huckle QC, Counsel General for Wales, will address Welsh judicial review in the fourth session. An exciting addition to the programme is the final session, which will be a ‘Question Time’ style panel. The panel members will be announced nearer to the conference.

The event is eligible for 6 hours CPD. Registration and coffee opens from 8.45am - 9.10am. Lunch is provided from 1 - 2 pm. The conference will close at 5pm and will be followed by a drinks reception. The full programme will be available to download on the SPLG website.
