Deck Design, Construction, and Inspection

Based on chapters 3, 4, and 5 of the IRC, and DCA6, we will look at the evolution of the code requirements for post to footing, beam to post, joist to beam, and stair connections as well as the vertical and lateral connection of the deck to the house. We will also discuss the code required 200# point load on the railing and the connection to the deck.  There will also be a brief overview of corrosion and available solutions.
