Bobby Persinger, OCPC, CRS, BPS, MHS
Bobby is the director of training services for Prevention Action Alliance with additional responsibilities for the Ohio College Initiative and The G.A.P. Network. With nearly 25 years in prevention, Bobby has led environmental campaigns, collegiate wellness initiatives, youth-led projects and local coalition development. Prior to joining the PAA team, Bobby worked in non-profit administration and educational wellness at the largest university in Ohio. Bobby is a two-time graduate of The Ohio State University and is a certified prevention consultant, bullying prevention specialist, and mental health specialist.

James Syphax, OCPSA, CDCA
James is the director of problem gambling prevention and the coordinator of the Statewide Prevention Coalition Association (SPCA) at Prevention Action Alliance. James’ background in behavioral health includes stints as a coalition coordinator in southwest Ohio as well as serving as a primary prevention provider offering school-based prevention education in multiple counties. James has also served as an administrator, working in human resource management for one of the largest substance use treatment centers in the state. James is a chemical dependency counselor assistant and a certified prevention specialist assistant.

 

Everyone Has A Role: An Introduction to Prevention

This training is designed to provide an overview of the field of prevention. Everyone Has A Role provides attendees with a general understanding of the field from prevention foundations to scope of practice to certification and more. Participants will increase their  knowledge of theory, practice, and practical application of prevention science as they support positive change with individuals, families, and in communities they work with.

By the end of the training, participants will be able to:

  1. Define basic concepts, theories and practices in the prevention field.
  2. Describe the role of a preventionist in the larger behavioral healthcare system.
  3. Relate best practices and theories of prevention to their current work.
