Colleen Mercuri-Johnson, MSW, LISW-S owner of Hope Tree Consulting LLC, holds a Certificate in Traumatic Stress Studies from the Child Trauma Center at Justice Resource Institute.  She provides consultation to teams supporting individuals with complex trauma histories and is a co-lead for the Southwest Regional Trauma Informed Care Collaborative, an initiative through Ohio Mental Health and Addiction Services and Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities. An experienced mental health therapist, Colleen specializes in working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disability (IDD), as well as with systems who support individuals with complex trauma histories. She speaks nationally on co-occurring mental health and IDD including treatment for problem sexual behaviors, the impact of trauma and the healing power of connection, sexuality and healthy relationship development across the lifespan.  She is co-author of the National ARC’s National Center on Criminal Justice and Disability white paper Sex Offenders with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities: A Call to Action for the Criminal Justice Community. 

 

 

Human Trafficking in Your Community: A Call to Action

Participants in this training will raise their awareness of the impact of Human Trafficking in Ohio, and our community.  Topics included are definitions of sex and labor trafficking, identifying characteristics of victims, including how early trauma and substance use may play a role in vulnerability to being trafficked, as well as laws and services relating to both sex and labor trafficking. Hear from a survivor of trafficking who will share her story. Come and join us for this FREE community event!

Target Audience: Social service providers, educators, counselors, therapists, health care workers, community members, parents, etc.
