EXPERIENCE REIKI & LEARN A BIT ABOUT SHAMANISM  Rain or Shine!

Some things you wanted to know about Reiki...here's your opportunity.

What is Energy Work? Can  anyone learn how to give Reiki? How could Reiki help my Spiritual Practise? Can Reiki be sent over time and distance? What does the word 'Reiki' mean?

Our workshop leaders, Suzanne & Lydia, presenters will share their experiences with Healing Energy with energy work and will answer your questions about Reiki. Other Reiki practitioners will be available to provide shoulder Reiki treatments to those in the audience, so people interested can experience Reiki for themselves.

In addition, services offered at Suzanne and Lydia’s Yippee! Reiki studio in Cooperstown will be described. Learn about the Reiki  Energy Courses and personal Reiki Sessions they offer in Cooperstown.

"Why Shamanism Suits Me"

In the second half of the workshop, from 5-6pm, Suzanne will talk about her journey with shamanism in her talk, “Why Shamanism Suits Me.”  She will also describe some of her experiences last summer during her trip to Mongolia, where she and eleven others had the opportunity to travel and work with Mongolian shamans.

After dinner, Suzanne will offer an introduction to guided meditation for audience participation, followed later by a basic shamanic journey accompanied by shamanic drumming. Participants will chose the focus of this journey from a short list of typical goals used in journeying. Please bring a hand drum, if you wish, as we will close the evening with group drumming with intention.

Spiritual Journeys through meditation and prayer inspired dreams are part of all faith traditions and mystical practises.  Learn how to intentionally journey into the Spirtual Realms for guidance.

Short description of Reiki:
Reiki is an ancient Japanese technique of balancing the body’s mental, physical and emotional aspects. The Reiki practitioner places her hands on or near the body to transfer Reiki energy to the client. Reiki has its own awareness of how to best benefit each person. Reiki works by flowing through blocked areas in the client’s energy field, charging these areas with positive energy, thus restoring harmony.

A Reiki treatment, which lasts 60-90 minutes, is deeply relaxing. The client may additionally experience warmth, renewed energy, colors or images, and an overall sense of well-being.

About Suzanne Summers. . .
Suzanne has been a Reiki Master Teacher since 1998. She has taught Reiki classes locally, at several New York State colleges and in Argentina. She is currently completing the Foundation for Shamanic Studies 3-year Advanced Studies program, and offers shamanic practices at the Yippee! Reiki studio in Cooperstown, NY. In the summer of 2017, Suzanne traveled to Mongolia to work with shamans there. She will be sharing some of her experiences on August 18th. Suzanne is a Registered Nurse. Her practice philosophy combines Reiki, shamanism, and a nurse’s understanding of the workings of the human body to express her belief in the interconnectedness of the powerful ways in which renewal can take place.

Lydia Garcia has been working with Reiki since 1997 and she received her Reiki Master level in 2001.  Her teachers, in the Usui tradition, were Kris Kearns, and Cate LaBarre.  She received Reiki attunements from John Harvey Gray, one of the original Reiki Masters attuned by Hawayo Takata.  She has many years of experience in the health care field and it has been  her experience that using alternative methods of healing with the traditional methods mesh very well.  Lydia, with Suzanne Summers taught Reiki at Hartwick College and SUCO in Oneonta.  They have been a part of local groups of Reiki practitioners who gather in the area to offer introduction to Reiki with treatments.  They also offer Reiki workshops and treatments, both privately and in small groups.  Currently Lydia is studying Shamanism.
