Join us for the Grand Opening Gala for the Institute for Spiritual Development in Oneonta, beginning with a Wine and Cheese Reception (drop in between 6-7) at the new Lotus Center. This will be followed by a 7pm concert. The star of the concert is Joe Rossi, Oneonta native and singer extraordinaire, presenting "The Not Your Average Joe Show: Songs of Inspiration." He will be accompanied by Tim Horne. Joe is a member of the Institute in Washington, D.C., and his bio is below. After the concert, meet and greet the artist and the staff over dessert and coffee. Admission is $20 and space is limited, so reserve your spot by clicking on the registration button below.
The Institute for Spiritual Development in Oneonta is the fourth chapter in a national organization, and first opened its doors to their new home at 41-45 Dietz St., on March 19th. Other chapters of the organization are in Washington D.C., Sparta, New Jersey and Madison, NJ. The Institute is both a metaphysical church and learning center and its mission is to provide a sanctuary for those seeking the freedom to explore their relationship to the Divine, rather than be told how they are supposed to experience that relationship.
As part of the Grand opening weekend, ISD Oneonta also welcomes founding Pastor, Rev. Jim DiBiasio, who founded the church 40 years ago. Rev. DiBiasio will first teach his most popular class, "Hocus Pocus" from 2pm-3:30pm, and the next day, formally dedicate the Oneonta chapter of ISD at the Sunday, June 4th, 10 am church service. After the service at about 12:15, the delightful Rev. Kathy Kerston, pastor and director of the Institute in Sparta, NJ, will conduct a free class in the Art of EFT or Tapping.
Joe Rossi, a proud Oneonta Native, has performed his one-man show in many cities, including New York City, Mountain View, Missouri; and Washington, D.C. Some of his Musical Theater roles include: Pellinore/Morgan Le Fey in Camelot; Andrew McLaren in Brigadoon; Anselmo in Man of LaMancha; Jamie in My Fair Lady; A-Rab and Chino in West Side Story; Harry in Time of Your Life; and Daddy Brubeck in Sweet Charity. Joe recently was guest soloist for the National Award for Arts Writing (honoring critic and author Michael Riedel) and was honored to sing the National Anthem for the Wounded Warriors Project Mother's Day Luncheon at the Eastern Division Rotary National Convention. He is also a well-respected arts management professional, having worked with Olney Theatre Center, Manhattan School of Music, Adventure Theatre-MTC and the Castleton Festival. Joe extends his love and thanks to all his friends and family, "who help make my life beautiful and give me the strength to stay on this wild ride." Thanks especially to you Mom (and Dad) for coming to Oneonta all those years ago -- This is for you, as always! www.joerossi.net.
