In conjunction with the Maine International Trade Center's (MITC) Annual Member Appreciation Reception, Maine MEP will offer a one-hour introduction to the fundamentals of Innovation Engineering prior to the reception.

Innovation Engineering is rapidly transforming the way businesses develop new products and services.  A dramatically different approach to innovation, it brings together highly effective tools for generating new ideas with a rigorous system of evaluation and project management.

This one-hour session prior to the reception will provide an introductory overview of the fundamentals of Innovation Engineering and be packed with real world examples and interactive exercises.  Participants will explore the "Fail Fast Fail Cheap" (or Learn Fast Learn Cheap!) system of Deming Learning Cycles.  Proctor and Gamble does these brainstorming sessions in 24 hours; we're going to do one in 15 minutes!

The session will provide attendees with an opportunity to discuss Innovation Engineering with Maine MEP Business Growth Coach John Karp.  Karp has been developing and commercializing products since 1985 and was one of the first certified Innovation Engineering Blackbelt instructors in the country.  He has taught Innovation Engineering at the University of Maine Orono and served as the Innovator In Residence there during the Fall 2010 semester.  One of America's leading practitioners, Karp has helped guide many clients through the process of identifying and developing new products.  Join John for this fast-paced introduction to the value of Innovation Engineering.
