Academy Days Oct 12th&13th, 2019

Postponed due to Power Outages in Northern California

Dear Academy Days Parents, Teachers & Student;

Greetings from MBA. Unfortunatelty, we have elected to POSTPONE Academy Days for this weekend.  Here are the circumstances that are currently taking place:

Due to a storm with severe winds concerns, the electric company (PG&E) has turned off and is preparing to turn off the power to large portions of California. This is a precautionary measure due to high risk of fire in the event of downed power lines caused by the high winds. Unfortunately the power outage could potentially include Monterey Bay Academy and is already out in our surrounding areas and Northern California. It's estimated that it could affect up to 2.4 million customers. They are reporting that it could be multiple days until they can check the lines and restore power to affected areas. 

Due to the uncertainty of power at MBA, we felt that it was best to postpone our weekend events, and our Fall Academy Days.  We feel that this uncertainty of power will not allow us to provide the best experience for you, our guests and visitors. We will continue with our daily actives over the weekend, but we will not have any programs for guests and visitors on campus.  We apologize for the inconvenience that this may cause for guests planning to visit, however much of the state will be without power and we predict that services in Northern California will be limited. Please contact me if you are unable to change or adjust your travel plans. 

We plan to reschedule the Academy Days open house to a future weekend.  We will keep everyone posted when the plans are made.
