Introduction to Training Within Industry (TWI)

The ASCM New Haven Chapter's next virtual PDM of the 2020-2021 program year will be Wednesday, October 20, 2021

Presentation Title: Introduction to Training Within Industry (TWI)

Presenter: Susan Janus, Deeper Thinking, LLC

Topic Abstract:
Highly performing organizations secure a competitive advantage by “developing systems that deliberately and consistently make the best use of the ordinary distribution of human talent”. This presentation will provide an overview of Training Within Industry (TWI) and how its four “J” components Job Relations (JR), Job Instruction (JI), Job Methods (JM), and Job Safety (JS) provide leaders with the skills required to develop employee talent and maximize the engagement of all employees within the organization.
Whether you are in a manufacturing, service, financial, or health care organization, the development of human talent is vital to long term success. You will learn how JR can create a positive work environment, how JI provides a sure way to train a person providing a foundation for standard work, how JM involves all employees (who do the work) in continuous improvement and JS makes safety everyone’s job. Those attending will walk away from this presentation with a clear understanding of why TWI is referred to as “the missing link to continuous improvement”.
