Lifelong Learning for Lifetime Success

In our ever-changing world, particularly one in which the pace of change is accelerating, we need to constantly upgrade our skill sets to satisfy the needs of the marketplace. If you’re thinking that sounds like matching supply to demand, you’re right on! The critical resource that constrains throughput has evolved from being inventory, to capacity, to information, to knowledge. How is knowledge different from information? Information sits in a database, whereas knowledge is our ability to use information. It takes the form of skill sets, technical expertise, wisdom, and decision-making ability. Put another way, information is stored by a computer; knowledge is possessed by a human being.

As we journey through life, our needs, wants and expectations will change. Our value system evolves as we go from being young, carefree teenagers to responsible adults with obligations to our families, employers and society-at-large. We find that our learning comes from both formal education and the practical “lessons learned” we develop from life’s experiences. Often, the key to maximizing our success is in striving for a balance among the following conflicts:

  • Theory v. Practice
  • Old v. New
  • Risk v. Reward
  • Standard v. Creativity
  • Satisfaction v. Yearning

This presentation will discuss these elements as part of an examination of learning and the role it plays in the broader scope of life. The facilitator will share entertaining experiences from his personal and work lives that promise to share lessons learned.

There is no charge for this event, but you MUST have a Zoom link to attend.  This link will be furnished to registrants by email at the completion of their registration.
