First-generation students are among the fastest growing populations on university campuses in
Alaska and nationwide. How can faculty best support students who are the first
in their families to earn a college degree? How can we honor their unique
challenges while maintaining academic rigor? Join us to learn about the
hurdles first generation college students must overcome, the strengths they
bring to campus, and effective strategies for working with this growing student
population both in and out of the classroom.
