ASU University/Community Choir
Fall 2013 & Spring 2014

Area Singers: college-age and above

are invited to join the

Arkansas State University/Community Choir! 

Community participants may register for the fall 2013 and/or spring 2014 semesters.  Cost is $25 per semester.  The choir will present two local performances:  November 7 and March 17, and this year’s group will have the opportunity to participate in the ASU Choir’s March 20-29, 2014 Performance Tour to Barcelona, Valencia, and Madrid, Spain. 

The combined group will be under the direction of Dr. Miller for the Jonesboro and Spain performances.  The 2013-2014 repertoire will include a variety of music, concentrating on Spanish and American composers ranging from the 16^th century to current day. 

ASU students may register for the choir for credit (MUS 3361.004), or non-credit (3360.004) at current tuition.  The cost for non-students to participate in the University/Community Choir is $25 per semester to cover the cost of sheet music and printing, and will be administered by the College of Continuing Education and Community Outreach. 

Performance attire will be tuxedos for men and long black dress (or black blouse and long black skirt) for women. 

Participation in the tour to Spain is NOT a requirement of membership.  Those who choose to perform in Spain will leave from Memphis on Thursday, March 20, and will return to Memphis on Saturday, March 29, 2014.  The cost is $3,549 per person, which includes two meals daily, double-occupancy hotel, airfare, ground transportation, admission to sightseeing venues, and concert management.  Family members may also participate in the trip at the same cost without singing in the choir.

Auditions will be held by appointment beginning Monday, August 12, in room 143 of the ASU Fine Arts Center.  Rehearsals will be held weekly on Mondays from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.  in the ASU Fine Arts Center Choir Room 144, and will begin on August 26.  Interested singers should contact Dr. Miller at (870) 972-3841 no later than August 26, to schedule an audition or for further questions.
