In Andy Warhol’s own words, “in the future everyone will be world famous for 15 minutes". Today, the idea of instant fame as often created through social media as a means of expressing one’s views artistically, will be the theme of the proposed project, “The Summer Institute for Students and Artists.” The month long summer program will provide an opportunity for learning, for growth, for introduction to new and different ideas, and opportunities for self-expression and for the mixed interaction between student artists and artists in residence.
This summer institute experience will give developing artists and practicing artists, an opportunity to reflect on the use of various forms of social media combined with visual imagery and the artist’s self-expression. The Artist will be able through, mixed media methods, to express their everyday lives reflective of Warhol but adapted to this time period.
