Core4® Fundamentals
Sports Medicine Concepts is hosting a Core4® Fundamentals program at SMC's Elite Sports Emergency Care Training Center. Completion of this program will lead to 8 Category A CEU's for the Athletic Trainer and SMC's Sports Emergency Care Specialist Certification.
What to expect:
- Hands-on management of a cervical-spine injury from evaluation to transport
- Hands-on management of a football equipment laden athlete, removal techniques
- Measure and understand vital signs in critical care management
- Understand and place airway adjuncts for basic life support
- Hands-on management of an equipment laden sudden cardiac arrest patient
- Collaboration with EMS professionals, patient handoff techniques
Learning Objectives
Core4® Fundamentals is an 8hr hands-on program that uses demonstration, practice, and simulation to provide a training experience that emphasizes practical application of 4 essential emergency action planning concepts, including:
- Provision of high quality basic life-support to the arrival of EMS
- Integration with EMS
- Interdisciplinary critical task choreography
- Safe Patient Handling and Equipment Management

All necessary materials and equipment are provided by SMC, but participants are encouraged to bring any personal emergency response equipment they would like to practice with.
