To be considered for participation in the 2013 UT Summer Jazz Institute, you must complete the application by clicking the Register Now button below. Through this online registration process, you can register yourself and up to 30 additional guest participants. If you are a teacher bringing a larger group than 30, please contact Gunnar Mossblad directly. His contact information is to your left.

Participation in the Summer Jazz Institute also requires that you pay a $50 application fee and submit a pre-recorded audition. The audition is required for all tracks EXCEPT the non-performing tracks--Teacher Training (non-performance) or Jazz Appreciation.


COSTS

The $50 application fee is non-refundable, and must be paid by June 1, 2013. After the deadline, a $25 late fee will be added. Summer Jazz Institute (SJI) tuition is $450 for all participants who are not taking SJI for College Credit. If you are taking SJI for College Credit, your tuition will be waived in leiu of University of Toledo tuition and fees.To apply to the University for College Credit, please contact the UT Office of Undergraduate Admissions by visiting http://www.utoledo.edu/admission/ or call 419.530.8888. Ask about admission as a guest student. Visit the Graduate Office Admissions if you are taking the Summer Jazz Institute for graduate level credit.

PAYMENT

When you register, you have the option to pay now, pay by mail or pay in person. Pay with a credit card at the end of the registration application. Just click the "Pay with Papal" option. You do not need to have a Paypal account to use this payment option.

If you are only paying the application fee today, do not click either of the "tuition" options. Then you can pay the tuition later by mail or in person. HOWEVER, your application fee must be paid by the deadline or it will be subject to a $25 late fee and at least $200 of the tuition must be paid by JUNE 1. The remainder of your tuition must be paid in full by Friday, June 14, or you cannot participate.

Payment after the event is not permitted. You can also pay by visiting the UT Center for Performing Arts Main Office in person or by calling 419.530.5072 (ask for Lindsay McLaughlin),  or by mailing in a check made payable to the UT Department of Music.

FOOD
Lunch is included daily for all participants; dinner is on your own.

HOUSING
If you need a place to stay, we have an arrangement with Ramada Hotel and Conference Center, 3536 Secor Road, Toledo, OH. All rooms are double occupancy (two double beds per room). You can stay in a room by yourself, designate a roommate or ask us to assign one for you. Having a roommate will cut the cost in half! If 3 or 4 people share a room, the savings are even greater. However, you must designate your roommates up front and each is responsible for their share of the bill. If your roommates are not attending the Summer Jazz Institute, you are responsible for the room cost as if you were reserving the room by yourself. 

ROOM RATES FOR THE WEEK*
Cost below is the flat rate per person. Room rate, fees and continental breakfast (per person) is included. Shuttle transportation between the hotel and the University is also included.

  • 1 Person Occupancy -  $400/week - Assumes only 1 person will occupy the room, or that others sharing the room are not attending the Summer Jazz Institute. 
  • 2 Person Occupancy -  $200/week - Assumes 2 people will occupy the room. Designate a roommate who is also attending the Summer Jazz Institute or we can assign one to you, if possible. If not, you are responsible for the single occupancy rate.
  • 3 Person Occupancy -  $130/week - Assumes 3 people will occupy the room who are attending the Summer Jazz Institute. You must designate valid roommates or you will be responsible for the single occupancy rate.
  • 4 Person Occupancy -  $100/week - Assumes 4 people will occupy the room who are attending the Summer Jazz Institute. You must designate valid roommates or you will be responsible for the single occupancy rate.
