Improve your musicianship, no matter what your current level might be, at this week long intensive in band for high school students led by UT’s Director of Bands, Jason Stumbo.  Learn more about music theory, practice techniques, and rehearse and perform in a variety of large and small ensembles during the week. 

WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION
The Summer Band Institute offers all students, regardless of current ability, the opportunity to grow as a musician through a variety of classroom, social, rehearsal and performance opportunities. In addition to daily Concert Band rehearsals, participants will choose from classes in Music Theory, Class Piano and/or Individual Practice Techniques, and will have performance opportunities including Woodwind Choir, Brass Choir, and Percussion Ensemble.

Who Should Attend
This workshop is intended for high school band students entering grades 9 - 12.

Basic Schedule
Monday-Friday, July 9 - 13, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. We break from 12 noon to 1 p.m. each day and lunch is included.

Registration & Check-in
Payment must be made by the start of the workshop. Register today by clicking the registration link at the bottom of this page.  You can also register multiple participants (up to 8) from the same school at the same time if you so desire. Check-in for the event is Monday, July 9 from 7:00 to 8:00 a.m. at the UT Canter for Performing Arts (main campus). The workshop will be held in the CPA Room 1023.

PARKING
During the workshop, parking is provided free of charge. Parking passes at UT are now electronic. Information about your vehicle is provided to campus police and entered into a data base. Once you are in the data base, you do not need to display a parking pass and may park anywhere on campus where students can park. To use UT handicapped parking you must also display the handicapped parking placard. When you register, you will need to provide the following: Make, Model, Year, Color, State, License Plate #, and Indicate if you have a Handicapped placard. Have this infromation handy when you register.

UNDERAGE PARTICIPANTS
Parents of students under age 18 must complete and sign the Permission/Medical Consent form, which permits students to participate, provides emergency medical info and authorizes treatment of the student in the event of an emergency. Download the PDF form.

COST 
$200 (cost includes breakfast & lunch)

COLLEGE CREDIT INFORMATION
This workshop is not available for college credit.

CANCELATION NOTE: In the unlikely event that enrollment in this workshop does not meet its minimum requirement of participants, it will be cancelled. All monies paid by registered participants will be fully refunded. If a participant chooses to cancel his or her registration prior to the event, they will receive a refund of any money paid.
