Program Description:
With Labor Day behind us, many firms are increasing pressure on employees to return to working from the office. According to data from consulting firm Gartner, 69% of mid- to large-sized employers say they require employees with jobs that can be done remotely to be at the office a set number of days. Of that group, 25% require employees to be on site three days a week; and 16% are opting for a two-day minimum. A small number (4%) require just one day, while only 5% require workers to be in the office five days a week. Another 4% say they are requiring employees to show up either one day a month (2%), or one day per quarter (2%). A full 31% said they have set no minimum.

While in other parts of the country firms have been full-time back in the office for some time, coastal metro areas like the Bay Area have lagged and remained mainly remote or hybrid thus far. Anecdotal evidence points to local RIA firms following this trend. Most RIA firms seem to have landed on some sort of hybrid model, with a few remaining fully remote. While there might be a few RIA firms in the Bay Area that are now requiring their employees to work from the office 5 days a week, they are few and far between.

Join us in a panel of peers to explore how local RIA firms have navigated this tricky issue of the right approach for their firms in returning to the office, or not. We’ll explore the considerations behind their decision. They’ll share how they addressed areas like data security, employee productivity, company culture, collaboration and recruiting in a mostly virtual world.

Afterwards, continue your conversation with your peers in a holiday networking event.

*This is a practice management topic.

The FPA Board would like to invite you to join us for a Holiday Reception just after our December chapter meeting. We are kicking things up a notch with generous appetizers and drinks while we take a few moments to connect with our fellow chapter members. Each meeting has grown in attendance this year – and we would love to keep up that momentum. Reach out to your colleagues and friends and come with a group – or come on your own and make some new connections. Let’s get together to reflect on this past year and celebrate how far we have all come throughout 2022.

In an effort to extend our community’s good will, we will be hosting a Toys for Tots at this meeting! If you are able – we would love to have you bring a toy to the meeting and the Board will deliver them to the North Beach SF Fire Department. Wrapped or unwrapped – and toys are needed for all ages. If you are unable to make the event, you can still contribute to the toy drive virtually via this linkSF Financial Planning Association Virtual Toy Drive - YouGiveGoods

Community, Content, and Commitment are the themes for the new year – lets toast 2022 together and welcome in a fresh 2023!
