Program Description:
This is a panel discussion with an estate planning attorney, CPA and financial advisor, designed to provide practical information on the steps to take when a client passes away. While clients may have estate plans in place, settling an estate often presents unforeseen issues. The panel will share their perspectives and discuss their respective roles in this complex process of settling an estate. They will address such things as funding trusts versus portability, equalizing assets at the first death, transitioning to successor trustees, IRS reporting requirements and timelines and how best to coordinate with the attorney and CPA, among others. You should take away a better understanding of the issues so that you will be better prepared to help your clients and their families when the time comes.
