Program Description:
Our speakers will discuss the major developments in health insurance coverage and planning for individuals, families, and small businesses in California.  Advisors will learn about changes that have occurred over the past few years in the health insurance landscape, about Covered California and expected trends in health insurance in the future.  Useful case studies will be presented to illustrate key health insurance planning decisions that individuals, families and small businesses face and the best options currently available.  Advisors will also hear about trends which are likely to affect their clients’ health insurance decisions and inform financial planning considerations in this changed health insurance environment.

Speaker Bios:
Chris Acker, CLU, ChFC
Chris began his insurance career with The Manufacturers Life Insurance Company (now John Hancock) in the fall of 1985, where he was a brokerage representative, helping independent insurance agents and brokers place impaired risk and specialty insurance coverage. In 1989, he moved into retail insurance brokerage with the San Mateo-based Link-Allen Associates, where he assisted growing technology companies and their executives with their employee benefit plans and individual insurance needs. In 1998, he opened his own office where he continues to specialize in helping individuals, families, and businesses with a wide variety of insurance issues completely independent from any obligation to any specific insurance company.

Chris is a past President of the Financial Planning Forum (Palo Alto, CA) and the Williams College Alumni Association of Northern California, a title he shared with his wife, Carol for 13 years. He was a board member of the Peninsula Chapter of the American Society of CLU, now the SFSP. He is a member of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors and The Society of Financial Service Professionals.  He is also a member and past President of the Financial Planning Forum in Palo Alto.

Chris earned the professional designations, CLU, and ChFC in 1988 and 1991, respectively and continues his education on an ongoing basis. He graduated from Williams College with BA in history in 1985. Chris lives in Palo Alto with his wife, Carol, who is a fee-only financial planner and his two daughters.
