Tax Issues for the Self-Employed

Speaker(s):
Bob McGrath, CPA, Senior Tax Manager
Krissy Rhoades, CPA, Tax Senior Manager
Burr Pilger Mayer, Inc.
(BPM)

Program Description:
Self-employed individuals face unique tax issues ranging from annual tax planning to transactional issues such as exit strategies or bringing on new co-owners.  This program is designed to give the audience a deeper understanding of high-level tax planning strategies for owners of closely held businesses including sole proprietors, general partners of partnerships and active members of LLCs.  The presentation by Bob McGrath and Krissy Rhoades, both CPA’s with Burr Pilger Mayer, Inc. (BPM), will address:
•    Structuring buy/sell agreements,
•    Planning for a tax-efficient ownership exit,
•    Intrafamily ownership transfers, and
•    Retirement plan options -- both defined benefit and defined contributions plans.

Bob and Krissy's presentation will illustrate these planning strategies using real life examples and case studies so that you leave equipped with additional tools to better serve your self-employed clients.
