Dr. Jack Newman is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada as well as being Board Certified by the American Academy of Pediatrics. He founded the first hospital based breastfeeding clinic in Canada in 1984. He has been a consultant for UNICEF for the Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative.
 
Currently Dr. Newman works full time helping mothers and babies with breastfeeding at the International Breastfeeding Centre based at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine in Toronto.
 
Among Dr. Newman's publications on breastfeeding, are  a help guide for professionals and mothers on breastfeeding, called, Dr. Jack Newman's Guide to Breastfeeding, (Canadian title) and The Ultimate Breastfeeding Book of Answers (US Title). Co-written with Teresa Pitman, the book has been translated into French, Spanish, Indonesian and Japanese. In 2006, Dr. Newman, along with Teresa Pitman, published The Latch and Other Keys to Breastfeeding Success.  He has also, along with Edith Kernerman, developed a DVD as a teaching tool for health professionals and mothers. 

Dr. Newman's website www.nbci.ca has information on breastfeeding in multiple languages,  and  also video clips that help mothers understand breastfeeding better. 

In 2013, Dr Newman was awarded the Queen’s Jubilee Medal for service.

MORE IMPORTANT CONFERENCE INFORMATION

MEALS: Lunch and continental breakfast are included in the full registration fee.  Lunch buffet will include hot roast turkey, salad bar, specialty side salads, soup, breads, dessert, and more. We are sorry but we are unable to accommodate special dietary requests.

ACCOMMODATIONS: Rooms have been reserved at the Holiday Inn at special conference rates. Single/Double: $99; Triple $109; Quad.: $119. Reservations must be made by Feb.15 to receive the Conference rate. Contact the hotel at: 1-978-263-8701 and mention NMC.

NURSING ROOM: A room will be available for those who need a quiet place to pump, nurse or change a diaper. Quiet, breastfed babies in arms may remain with their mothers in the meeting rooms.

EXHIBITS: Many exhibits of interest to lactation professionals and others will be available.

CONFERENCE SYLLABUS: The syllabus will be available in electronic format approximately one week before the conference. This will allow time for those who prefer a paper copy to print one out to bring. Instructions for downloading will be emailed to each registrant, so be sure we have an email address that is checked regularly.

*DEADLINES AND REFUNDS:  To check availability of space for walk-ins please email the registrar. Registration fee will be refunded in full if you notify the registrar by Feb. 15 or if you are on the waiting list and no seat opens up for you. A partial refund (conference fee minus $45) will be given if you contact the registrar by March 7 at bacenmc@gmail.com or 617-244-5102. There will be no refunds after March 7.
