This annual event connects hundreds of visual arts educators from around the state. As a professional learning community, MAEA is committed to supporting art educators in all settings - public, private, elementary, secondary, higher education, preservice, museum, administration - in an effort to advance art education and shape human potential.

2-Day Conference Format and 1 CPD Available!

The schedule is flexible to meet your needs.  This means you can choose to attend just Friday or just Saturday or both days!  In order to earn MSDE approved CPD credit, MAEA members must attend sessions on Friday, Saturday, and submit a personal reflection.  Specific directions about the submission process will be emailed to registered MAEA members after the conference.

KEYNOTE SPEAKER

Wanda B. Knight, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor of Art Education, African American Studies, and Women’s, Gender & Sexuality Studies in the Art Education Program at Penn State University. As chair of the National Art Education Association (NAEA) Task Force on Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion, she has served as a Pre-K-12 art teacher, registrar and curator of an art museum, and principal of both elementary and secondary schools. Her research is published broadly, and her presentations span national and international locations including Austria, Canada, Finland, Germany, Korea, Puerto Rico, Sweden, Taiwan, and other places. Her honors include the Penn State University Faculty Way Pavers Award, the Pennsylvania Art Education Association Outstanding Higher Education Art Educator Award, the NAEA Women’s Caucus Maryl Fletcher DeJong Award for advocacy of equity for women and all people who encounter injustice, the National Art Education Association J. Eugene Grigsby Jr. Award for outstanding contributions to the field of art education, and the Kenneth Marantz Distinguished Alumni Award from The Ohio State University where she earned her Ph.D.
