Executive Luncheon Event

Join the Cloud Security Alliance, Seattle Chapter (CSA) for an Executive Luncheon with leading industry expert Mike Hamilton, Managing Consultant and CEO, M.K. Hamilton & Associates LLC, discussing:

Washington state government currently spends close to $1 billion per year on technology. Mr. Hamilton will discuss the State's strategy for technology investments and how Cloud Computing fits into that strategy. He will discuss cloud adoption in the public sector, and share some key learnings from actual projects using Cloud computing including:

  • Efforts by the State of Washington Office of the CISO to streamline cloud adoption in local governments.
  • How the State is encouraging adoption of public cloud platforms.
  • Encouraging State Agencies to adopt Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) for applications.
  • Adoption of private cloud platforms across agencies to enable easy migration of workloads.

The state of public-sector knowledge of the issues surrounding cloud adoption will be discussed from an empirical point of view, as will how well-considered adoption of these services can have unexpected benefits in security. He will also discuss PRISEM "This cybersecurity monitoring and real-time alerting system is the only one of its kind in the country," said Hamilton. PRISEM processes event logs for seven cities and counties, six maritime ports, and others. Funded by the Department of Homeland Security, this unique, visionary effort is expected to form a model for similar systems in other states.

An extensive speaker Q&A session will follow the presentation allowing attendees to ask specific questions about their issues and concerns and gain insight to practical solutions for information privacy and security in the Cloud.
