Jonathan Club

Please join us for the 2020 California Asphalt Pavement Association Annual Dinner at the elegant Jonathan Club in downtown Los Angeles. It will be a memorable night of delicious food, fine wine and pleasant conversation with your fellow asphalt industry leaders and spouses. The Board of Directors Meeting (Board members and invited guests only) will take place in the afternoon from noon until 5 p.m., and the dinner (all members and invited guests welcome) will begin with a festive reception at 5:30 p.m., immediately followed by the dinner program.

Tickets are $219 and should be purchased  no later than Jan. 7. This is a popular event and space is limited, so early registration is strongly encouraged. For information on this event, or for sponsorship opportunities, please contact Sophie You of CalAPA at 916-791-5044. To view photos from the 2019 CalAPA Annual Dinner, click HERE to visit our Facebook page.

Among those to be honored at the Annual Dinner include: Don L. Daley Jr. (California Commercial Asphalt), Pascal Mascarenhas (Vulcan Materials), Jerry Bland (Matich Corp.), Bill Darnell (Valero) and Alan French (DeSilva Gates Materials), as well as 2019 CalAPA Chairman Jordan Reed (George Reed Co.) and a special recognition for Don Matthews (Pavement Recycling Systems). The 2020 officers for CalAPA will also be introduced.

The keynote speaker will be Kevin James, president of the Board of Public Works for the City of Los Angeles (pictured at right). Appointed by Mayor Eric Garcetti, James will be providing his insight into the Board's role as the chief Kevin James administrators of the Department of Public Works, which consists of more than 5,000 employees who are responsible for the design, construction, renovation and operation of public projects, including streets and bridges. James will also introduce a special video message to CalAPA members from Mayor Garcetti, who was unable to attend the dinner in person. Garcetti, one of the most prominent big-city mayors in the nation, served four terms as City Council President before being elected the city's 43rd mayor in 2013, and being re-elected  in 2017 by the largest margin in city history.

A limited number of rooms at a special room rate are available at the Jonathan Club for  those attending the  Annual Dinner.  For room reservations, contact the Jonathan Club directly at (213) 624-0881, ext. 321 and tell them you want to reserve and pay for a room and reference the code "CalAPA." The rooms at this special rate are limited and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. For  lodging, sponsorship and event questions, contact Sophie You of CalAPA at (916) 791-5044. There is valet parking available at the Jonathan Club for $12 per vehicle.

Important note: The dress code for this event is business attire. The Jonathan Club has a strict dress code (no jeans, no T-shirts, no tennis shoes, no hats). Cell phones also must not be used in common areas. Click HERE to read more.

The gala reception begins at 5:30 p.m. and will include a limited host bar and delicious hors d'oeuvres, including shrimp cocktail, chilled jumbo shrimp served with fresh horseradish cocktail sauce and fresh oysters served on the half-shell. The dinner entree includes the Jonathan Club's famed filet mignon and Sand Dabs, or a vegetarian dish upon request. A selection of fine wines will be served, and a special New Year's Resolution-busting dessert.
