“How To” Protect Your Organization Against
Contemporary Workplace Claims

This program will focus on some of the most difficult issues employers face in defending workers’ claims and making proactive policy decisions in today’s workplace. To arbitrate or not to arbitrate? What are the advantages and disadvantages of EPLI insurance? How do we accommodate medical conditions in the murky intersection of the ADA, FMLA, workers’ compensation and short-term disability policies? How do we best meet the challenges posed by vaping, CBD and marijuana, and other lifestyle variations? This program will focus on these issues and give attendees an opportunity through our roundtable discussions to exchange “best practice” information with their peers.

Program General Session and Roundtable Topics

  • How to avoid class action wage/hour and wage payment claims without yielding to an across-the-board arbitration mechanism.
  • How to navigate the troubled waters of the FMLA, ADA, workers’ compensation and short-term disability policies in dealing with medical conditions while avoiding disability and accommodation claims.
  • What to look for in considering and selecting Employment Practices Liability Insurance.
  • Vignettes involving vaping, off-duty marijuana and CBD use, and other lifestyle variations in the modern workplace.
Roundtables and Lunch

After the general session, we will break into roundtable discussions in which attendees will be able to share their questions, practical concerns, and hands-on experience with their professional peers and our attorney/consultant moderators. Come prepared to ask questions about the issues you face and the trends you are seeing. Each attendee will have the opportunity to participate in two roundtable discussions.
