YOGA
Join us for a Yoga Night!
You've probably seen many photos of people bending themselves into pretzel-y shapes and figures and figured that since you're as flexible as a cold stick of gum that you couldn't possibly do yoga.
But there are other ways to do yoga! Some styles of yoga are very gentle and anyone can participate regardless of level or experience. A lot of yoga is about breathing and relaxation.
Beginners and non-beginners are all welcome!
What to bring:
- Loose comfortable clothing (jogging pants and a long sleeve shirt are great)
- Mat, towel or blanket (something long enough to lay down on, feet can hang off)
- Water
- An open mind
You are welcome to use a chair if you're not comfortable sitting on the floor. We will do standing, sitting and laying down poses, and some breathing exercises.
Yoga can be beneficial for anxiety, depression, motor skills development, balance, and strength. The emphasis is on bringing awareness to what is happening within your mind and body in the present moment, and allowing yourself to relax into stretching. Yoga encourages you to not judge yourself -- so no one in the room will be judging you either!
