Janeka Melanson is a former elementary school teacher, and is now a wife and the mother of two young girls: Harper, 3.5 years old and Briar, 8 months old. Harper was diagnosed with autism in October 2015 when she was 2.5 years old. since the diagnosis, Janeka has been on a mission to learn (and sometimes unlearn!) as much as she can about autism, so that she can support, and advocate for her daughter. She and her family live in Wayland, MA. She is an avid runner, reader, and binge watcher of all things reality TV.
Although this is not a playgroup, Janeka plans to bring Briar to some or all of the meetings. Other parents are also welcome to bring your infants or toddlers if you feel the children will not impede your comfortable participaticpation in the group. The meeting space is not childproofed; nor does AANE have any toys or baby equipment, so please bring whatever your children will need to be safe, comfortable, and occupied.
