AANE and Grace Myhill, in partnership with Carol Feldman Bass, are pleased to offer these interactive and customized workshop for neurodiverse couples.
As couples coaches, Grace and Carol understand that intimate relationships can be hard, but they are especially challenging when partners have different perspectives, communication techniques, approaches, and skill sets.
CouplesDynamix Workshops are specifically designed for neurodiverse couples in which one partner is neurotypical and the other has Asperger's, Asperger traits, social anxiety, non-verbal learning disorder, or other social awkwardness. The workshops address their unique and complicated communication and relationship struggles, paying close attention to the perspectives, viewpoints, and capabilities of both partners.
Examples of Workshop ThemesCommunicating from your hearts, figuring out what to say
Understanding another's perspective, what your partner thinks
Problem solving together, strengthening your we
Managing and understanding the impact of anxiety as a couple
Household chores and management, setting common goals
Uncovering and recovering the invisible you
This workshop is designed to address the communication issues in relationships in which one member of the couple identifies as having Asperger's or a related autism spectrum profile and the other member does not.
These specialized skill-building workshops use a variety of interactive action methods including Psychodrama, Sociodrama, and Improvisation to recreate difficult real-life situations and communications barriers between partners. We listen carefully and respond to everyone's unique perspectives in a nonjudgmental, supportive, and fun atmosphere.
Couples use these real-life scenarios to learn to enhance effective and empathic communication, improve the ability to understand the other's perspective, and increase self-awareness. With the support of the other couples who share similar experiences, we help participants connect, grow, learn to think on their feet, and respond in the moment from their hearts.
