Join presenters Jane Thierfeld Brown, EdD, and Lorraine Wolf, PhD, as they discuss the key steps needed for success after high school for students with Asperger Syndrome and related profiles.

The topics to be covered are:

  • Assessing readiness for post-secondary education.
  • How to work with your teen/young adult to develop skills needed for success in college and beyond, including independence, self-regulation, and organizational skills.
  • Learning how to decide which college environments might be a good match for your teen.
  • The insider's view of the accommodations process in college: laws and strategies parents and teens need to know, and how to work with college personnel to foster success.

About the Presenters

Jane Thierfeld Brown, EdD, is Director of Student Services at the University of Connecticut School of Law. She consults at many higher education institutions and is a frequent keynote speaker at conferences on Asperger's Syndrome. She has coauthored three books on the subject: Social Behavior and Self-Management: 5-Point Scales for Adolescents and Adults, The Parent's Guide To College for Students on the Autism Spectrum, and Students with Asperger Syndrome: A Guide for College Personnel.

Lorraine Wolf, PhD, is Director of the Office of Disability Services at Boston University. Dr. Wolf has taught at the undergraduate and graduate levels and presented internationally on disability issues in higher education. She is coauthor of Students With Asperger Syndrome: A Guide for College Personnel and The Parent’s Guide to College for Students on the Autism Spectrum.

Both presenters have children on the Autism Spectrum.

Fees: $100 AANE member / $150 Nonmember (includes a copy of The Parent's Guide to College for Students on the Autism Spectrum); $60 Spouse/Partner/Teen/Other (teens must be accompanied by a registered parent).

The registration fee includes morning coffee/pastry and a light deli lunch (sorry, we cannot accommodate dietary restrictions).

Registation deadline: Advance registration with full payment is required. No walk-ins.

Refunds, minus a $10 refund processing fee per person, are available until November 3, 2014. No refunda are available after November 3rd. If you are a no-show, there are no refunds or credits to attend another workshop.
