Together with the Foundation, the Saint Paul Public Schools have created an Everyday Math 2.0 training that gives volunteer tutors the skills needed to work with elementary school students in math. Participants will identify and analyze math misconceptions tutees have surrounding mathematics in more depth to assist in their tutoring. Strategies will be learned to clear up the misconception through a hands on conceptual understanding of the concept. Number Sense and Operations will be the focus of the math misconceptions being discussed.
Parking will be available in the lot in front of the school, free street parking is also available. There will be signs posted to indicate the classroom for the training.
Light snacks will be available but feel free to bring additional food or drink as needed.
Tutor training is open to any volunteer or program staff member working with young people in St. Paul.
