The Saint Paul Public Schools Foundation and the Minnesota Literacy Council have developed a comprehensive literacy training for students grades 5-8. The training addresses literacy tutoring strategies, how to align tutoring with the Saint Paul Public Schools curriculum, and the challenges of working in the middle grades. In addition, tutors learn specific strategies that support positive behavior and motivation for students in the middle grades.
We recommend parking south of University on Raymond Ave. Meters are enforced 9-5, Monday-Saturday. There is ample FREE street parking (2 hour limit, until 6 PM) on Raymond Ave south of University. Saint Paul Police loves to ticket, so make sure to read EVERY sign. There are also a number of spots on Myrtle (one block south and parallel to University) and Pelham (one block west and parallel to Raymond).
Light snacks are provided- feel free to bring extra food or drinks as needed.
Tutor training is open to any volunteer or program staff member working with young people in St. Paul.
