2015 Celebration IX

"Where Love is Deep"

Celebration IX "Where Love is Deep"

Sept. 19, 2015  Gala Concert  7:00-8:30 All instruments and students will be featured in this concert.

Sept. 12, 2015  Harp Concert 4:00-5:00

Sept. 18, 2015  Five Piano Concert 7:00-8:15

What is Celebration?

Every five years the Suzuki Association of Utah (SAU) creates a wonderful event for children in the tradition of Dr. Shinichi Suzuki, founder of the Suzuki Method of teaching.  This event is called Celebration and is a celebration of music, of children, of possibilities, and many other joyful things.

Our theme "Where Love is Deep" comes from a quote by Dr. Suzuki, "Where love is deep much can be accomplished."

We have three main concerts to allow as many of the SAU students to participate as possible. They are as follows:

Sept. 12, 2015 (7:00-8:30): The SAU harp students of Utah will have a special concert to allow all harp students to participate. A select group of harpist will perform in the gala concert.  All harp students will participate in the gala concert by singing, adding to the special effects, and much more.

Sept. 18, 2015 (7:00-8:30): The Five Piano Concert is for the SAU piano students of Utah.  Since this concert has time constraints we have special events in each region to kick off our Celebration Concerts. A few groups will be selected to perform in the state wide Five Piano Concert and a smaller contingent in the grand Gala concert.  We want to include all piano students in the gala through singing, adding to the special effects, and much more.

Sept. 19, 2015 (7:00-8:30): The Celebration IX Gala Concert is for all SAU students in the state of Utah.  We will celebrate Dr. Suzuki by playing harmoniously “Thank You Dr. Suzuki” by Monica Christian.  We will join in heart by singing and signing Susan Reed’s song “Where Love is Deep.”  Each instrument group in the SAU will perform a few select pieces.  Hundreds of children will join together to play with one heart and one voice.

We are honored to work with so many wonderful students, parents and teachers.  Thanks you for your support of our organization and to this grand Celebration concert. It will be an event the will live on in memory for a life time.

Who Can Perform?

voices

The Gala Concert held on September 19, 2015 in the Conference Center is for all students in Utah that are members of the Suzuki Association of Utah (SAU).

We wish to include every student even those who are not performing on their instrument. We have special activities for these children.  Their performances on their instrument will be spotlighted in a special slideshow that will be viewed as the audience is seated.

The student and their teacher must be current members of SAU for the 2014-15 fiscal year and 2015-16.  Harp students, violin students, viola students, piano students, voice students, cello students, flute students, guitar students, and bass students of all ages will come together for this magical evening.

Note to teachers: The policy manual states that teachers must be a member for three years to participate.  Teachers who did not renew their SAU dues in 2013-14 fiscal year will need to register and pay the late registration fee if they want to participation.  Paying a late registration fee will not be an option in future Celebration concerts.  This rule is only for those who have been SAU members in the past and chose not to renew.  We welcome all Suzuki trained teachers and their studios to participate in Celebration IX. For questions please email Connie McCullough (connie@suzukimusicutah.org).
