Setting the Vibe: Getting Volunteers Off to a Great Start!

You've got a new volunteer. Hooray! Now make sure that your volunteer is set up for success from Day One! Join us for a lively discussion about "on boarding" new volunteers in another offering in the Volunteer Managers Assocation brown bag lunch and learn series. Topics will include:

Steps to establishing the right match

  • Completed application/form for interview process
  • Interview/Assess new volunteers for best match
  • Discuss opportunities
  • When there seems to be a match set-up next steps including possible background check, agreement - including liability waiver, photo release etc.

Orientation/training - introduction to the organization & volunteer position

  • Agency mission (and how the volunteer supports the mission)
  • Review Volunteer policies, handbook, including risk management/safety
  • Job related training
  • Agency tour, overview, meet staff/other volunteers
  • What about one time volunteer opportunities: Engaging volunteers beyond the single event.

Tracking time and managing volunteer information

  • Brief review of some of CRM programs for tracking volunteers
Bring you lunch and network with your peers while you share questions, successes, challenges and learning.  NOTE: Please consider also bringing a reusesable water bottle in consideration of our environment!

There is no fee to attend.
