You've got a new volunteer. Hooray! Now make sure that your volunteer is set up for success from Day One! Join us for a lively discussion about "on boarding" new volunteers in another offering in the Volunteer Managers Assocation brown bag lunch and learn series. Topics will include:
Steps to establishing the right match
- Completed application/form for interview process
- Interview/Assess new volunteers for best match
- Discuss opportunities
- When there seems to be a match set-up next steps including possible background check, agreement - including liability waiver, photo release etc.
Orientation/training - introduction to the organization & volunteer position
- Agency mission (and how the volunteer supports the mission)
- Review Volunteer policies, handbook, including risk management/safety
- Job related training
- Agency tour, overview, meet staff/other volunteers
- What about one time volunteer opportunities: Engaging volunteers beyond the single event.
Tracking time and managing volunteer information
- Brief review of some of CRM programs for tracking volunteers
