2016 Public Policy Update 

NAMC's 2016 Public Policy Update features guest speaker Nancy Berlin, Policy Director for the California Association of Nonprofits (CalNonprofits). Learn about current policy issues -- like recovering nonprofit overhead in grants, and minimum wage initiatives -- that impact your organization and the constituency you serve. Nancy will also discuss CalNonprofit's Vote Your Mission initiative, and how community benefit organizaions can help shape public policy through the ballot box. Following Nancy's presentaiton, PG Mayor Bill Kampe and Monterey Bay Aquarium representative Barbara Meister will speak about a proposed admissions tax in Pacific Grove.  What should nonprofits know about this growing trend? Come with your questions and network with colleagues. A box lunch is included.

Nancy Berlin

Nancy Berlin is Policy Director for California Association of Nonprofits (CalNonprofits). She directs and oversees policy initiatives that protect and promote California’s n onprofits, including state and federal legislative and administrative issues, and develops and implements campaigns to encourage advocacy and civic engagement among its more than 10,000 organ izational members.

Nancy was the former director of California Partnership and project coordinator for the Los  Angeles Coalition to End Hunger & Homelessness. She is well known to the California nonprofit and advocacy community through her leadership in advocacy in Sacramento and throughout California. Recognitions include Outstanding Public Citizen of the Y e a r  Award from the California Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers and the Community Building and Justice Award from Alexandria House.
