MHIMA ICD-10 Application Boot Camp 

Join the MHIMA Coding KFA and presenter Cortnie Simmons for hands on ICD-10 application experience!  We’ll be diving into real medical records and applying ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS
codes in this 1 or 2 day boot camp focusing on preparing you for the October 1,
2015 compliance date. We will cover CM only on day 1 and using records from
multiple setting such as ambulatory clinics, ancillary services, emergency
rooms, medical acute care, and other hospital outpatient services. Day 2 will
be spent focusing on complex ICD-10-PCS application using live operative notes

Speaker Bio:

Cortnie Simmons, MHA, RHIA, CDIP, CCS, is the Managing Director of Education Services for himagine
solutions where she is for overseeing the rollout of ICD-10 CM/PCS training and
education to more than 700 Kforce Consultants as well working with various
Kforce clients on ICD-10 implementation. She is also responsible for training
and education services around CDI, auditing and other healthcare related areas.
Ms. Simmons has over 11 years of HIM consulting experience specializing in the
areas of coding compliance, auditing, clinical documentation improvement,
education, and training. Prior to joining Kforce, she spent several years
working for Hospital Corporation of America where she was responsible for
operations, coding and HIM support for several facilities – including training
and education, auditing, risk reduction and results reporting. She also has
experience in conducting educational presentations on ICD-9, CPT and ICD-10 to
various organizations and various healthcare facilities across the country
including but not limited to speaking engagements at AHIMA, FHIMA, NCHIMA,
VAHIMA, at AZHIMA. Ms. Simmons has authored several coding and
compliance-related articles for publications and newsletters on ICD-10 and
other coding topics. She also serves as an adjunct instructor for Coding and
Healthcare Informatics for the past 2 years. Ms. Simmons is an AHIMA Approved
ICD-10 Trainer since 2010 and was a recipient of the 2012 FHIMA Distinguished
Service Award.

Target audience: HIM students and professionals with a basic understanding of ICD-10 concepts and usage. This course is designed to enhance basic skills into application expertise through a series of live record coding.

Registration Cancellations/Refunds: If notice received prior
to 7/3/15, a $25 processing fee will be deducted from refund. Notices received
between 7/3/15 and 7/20/15, a 50% refund will be given. No refunds after July 20, 2015. “No shows” are not refunded.
Substitutions are permitted and must match the same registration category as
