Masonry Institute of Washington Sip & Learn

A case study:  City of Kirkland, WA

Every designer would like their building to be the cornerstone of a community.  A positive statement on
both the community and the designer.

Please join us as we sip wine, eat cheese and discuss the elements of how local communities are
utilizing products in their planning for the future.  Both the good and the bad by taking a look and beginning the discussion of the advantages and challenges of community design and the role masonry products are playing in
the future.

We take an in-depth look at the Kirkland community design during the last 25 years.

Learning Objectives:

Case Study Communities - Take a look at recent growth in the community.

  •  Find out how and why communities are implementing product planning policies.
  •  Planning Policy Methods - learn the methods that can be used in your community to manage design with a
     product planning policy.
  •  Masonry Planning Policy Examples view a number of existing masonry planning policies from communities
     across Washington State.
  • Identify how masonry products
and systems can be used as part of sustainable design strategies to meet provisions in the IGCC/2030 challenge/LEED 4.0.

  • Join us as we take a look at the community of Kirkland and it's approach to community design while enjoying local wines and cheese.
