The First Responder 40 hour course presents an exciting opportunity to develop emergency medical skills and knowledge that will enable you to assist people who have sustained an accidental injury or who are suffering from a sudden illness or medical problem. This training aims to teach you how to evaluate, stabilize, and treat patients using a minimum of specialized equipment. As a First Responder, you will find yourself in situations where little or no emergency medical equipment is readily available, so you must know how to improvise. Finally, the First Responder training teaches you what you can do to help EMTs and paramedics when they arrive on the scene.
This course follows a national curriculum that was developed by representatives from federal and state agencies and from professional medical groups. Instructor: Lisa Cothren
