Effective Communication Strategies

 Lunch and Learn

Course Overview

Next in the series of Community Education programs brought in partnership between Black River Technical College and Alzheimer's Association.  These workshops are led by professionals from the Alzheimer's association and are being taught as FREE workshops to the community to bring awareness to Alzheimer's disease.

Effective Communication Strategies

Communication is more than just talking and listening - it's also about sending and receiving messages through attitude, tone of voice, facial expressions, and body language.  As people with Alzheimer's disease and other dementia's progress in their journey and the ability to use words is lost, families need new ways to connect.

Join us to explore how communication takes place when someone has Alzheimer's.

As many as 5.3 million Americans are living with Alzheimer's disease and that figure is expected to grow to as many as 16 million by 2050.

Each year more-and-more baby boomers turn 65 - which is not only the age of Medicare eligibility, it is also the age of greatest risk for developing Alzheimer's disease.

Early diagnosis gives individuals the power to make choices about their own health and future with Alzheimer's in the picture.
