About This Event

Join us for a 2-Day Lending Conference and develop skills, tools and techniques to enhance your credit union's lending portfolio.

This conference, instructed by renowned credit union lender Pierre Cardenas, provides attendees with the unique opportunity to learn from and network with a successful industry trendsetter.

Throughout the conference, Pierre will share experiences to demonstrate innovative methods and approaches to lending. 

Day 1:  Overview of the Banking Industry:  Challenges & Opportunities

• Strategic Lending Starts with your Lending Policy. A review of loan policies, compliance issues to be considered and best practice policies that allow for greater loan opportunities.  Strategically identify your mode of operation.  (Attendees are to bring a copy of their lending policies and a copy of their rate sheets.)

• Relationship Based Lending.  Data Mining, committed approvals and a good centralized sales team can Rock Your World!

• Vendor Management – Due Diligence. Merging compliance with experience.

• Building the ideal Lending Assembly Line. Workflow for efficiency and scalability.

Day 2:  Incorporating Lending Efficiencies and Streamlining Workflows

• Technology is the Catalyst for Change.  Embracing mobility and the new banking models via Remote Delivery Channel.

• The Art of Underwriting.  We have lost our way and need to get back to our roots! Underwriting is “KEY” to your lending success.  (Attendees may bring 1-2 loans that were countered or denied for discussion. Also, attendees may bring 1-2 actual loans that were difficult to get approved or are currently questionable.)

• Repo Boot Camp – Collections and Managing Your Repossessions.  Key ways to minimize your losses while increasing your yields and lending growth.

• Onboarding New Members.  Turn every new membership and new account transaction into a lending opportunity and build a consistent way of deepening the relationship.

 

Meet the Instructor:  Pierre Cardenas

Pierre Cardenas has 30 years in the financial industry at both credit unions and banks. He has held executive level positions in organizations as large as a billion in assets.  He recently took on the role of CEO at a $120 million dollar credit union in Austin Texas.

Prior to his CEO position, Pierre had been consulting, training and presenting for the financial industry since 2008 when he started his business “Innovators of Change” while serving as the Senior VP of Retail at a $540 Mil CU. Pierre’s experience in using technology to streamline, enhance and reinvent workflows has given him considerable insight into the trends in the industry giving him a future look at what could be and how it should be for positive and scalable growth.
