Dear Community Stakeholder,

The Mobile Area Education Foundation (MAEF) requests your presence at our Education by the Numbers Learning Forum on Thursday September 24, 2015 at the Alabama Cruise Terminal. The Education by the Numbers Learning Forum is sponsored in partnership with the J. L. Bedsole Foundation, Lumina Foundation and the City of Mobile.

Graduating students ready for career and college is vital to economic development in our region. This Learning Forum will engage community stakeholder groups in a collaborative effort to ensure that Mobile’s education pipeline will supply college and career ready graduates for the entire Gulf Coast region.  In order to see a continual rise in Mobile County’s graduation rate, MAEF has worked hand in hand with the public education system to develop multiple pathways, so that all students can attain success in both post-secondary education and the workforce.

SETTING THE CONTEXT

Local leaders, including Mayor Sandy Stimpson and the CEO of the Mobile Area Education Foundation Carolyn Akers will inform attendees about major opportunities the City of Mobile is positioned to take advantage of and how a Graduate READY community is essential to fully realizing our potential.

PRESENTATION: Education by the Numbers

Analyst from the Public Affairs Research Council of Alabama will share local and regional student performance data and provide key takeaways around PreK through Post-secondary pathways.

MAKING SENSE OF THE DATA: Your Thoughts

This will provide attendees an opportunity to engage in an interactive discussion on : 1) How is Mobile building support for those who need support? 2) How do we know we’re successful? 3) What do we need to move to the next level?

LUNCHEON: Why does 75,000 Degrees Matter to our Economy?

You will hear from Bill Sisson, President of the Mobile Area Chamber of Commerce and other local workforce industry leaders how increasing the number the citizens with credentials and degrees impacts our local and regional economy.

WHERE DO WE GO FROM HERE: Our Vision Forward?

Attending PreK educators, regional school district leaders, elected officials, higher education leaders, and business leaders will have the opportunity to examine the roles of various partners in fostering a Graduate Ready community.
