Honoring Personhood

July 14, 2017   |   Rochester, NY

Tutoring

Create a Culture that Honors Personhood for Residents and Staff

When everyone feels honored, residents experience a good daily life, filled with meaning and value -- a life where they both give and receive. Staff teams thrive in a healthier organization where people work together better.   In such an environment they love their work and are excited about growing and contributing. Throughout the workshop, we will examine existing systems and how they either deny or honor personhood. One example is the initial assessment, which is often overwhelming, does not take the person‘s experience into consideration and creates added stress for the person moving in as well as their care partners. We’ll talk about how to soften that process, to ensure that it welcomes the person and honors their personhood.

 Objectives:

After this workshop participants will be able to:

~ Explore a variety of attributes of self, practice how we access those attributes, plan how to use those with those we serve

~ Recognize and experience interactive approaches that either support or detract from personhood

~ Discuss the elements of common values; self awareness; and home as vital to honoring personhood

~ Practice approaches to learning who people are, to problem-solve.

Tuition:  A single registration is $120. If sending more than one person from the same organization, registration is $99 per attendee.
