• Brian Smith from Microsoft will provide an introduction to big data “Big Data” is a popular topic in the Business Intelligence and analytics communities but what exactly is it, where is interest in the topic coming from, and what does it mean for the way we tackle business and technology challenges? In this session, we’ll answer these questions, providing you a starting point for further exploration of this exciting new technology space.
• Michael Embry from Sabre Corporation on Making the Big Decision about Big Data Learn how Sabre, Inc., a global travel technology company serving the world’s largest industry — travel and tourism, identified a big data need, evaluated big data technologies, selected a solution, and deployed a Big Data platform.
• Jerry Dake, Director of the Center for Decision and Information Technologies and Senior Lecturer at the University of North Texas, will lead a panel discussion on how big data is being applied in various industries as well as some of the experiences that companies are having as they apply big data concepts to their business problems.
