Cathy Swan, M.Ed. is an Early Childhood Educator with a curiosity and passion for her work that is contagious. For 40 years Cathy has been involved in education on many levels.
In her early years she worked as a volunteer with Native American programs for the Association of Aroostook Indians in Maine, and
as a High School teacher of Language Arts.
After completing AMI Primary Teacher Training and a Masters of Education in Early Childhood, she worked as a Primary teacher, as
an Adjunct Professor for Portland Community College, as a Parenting
Skills Instructor for Kaiser Permanente, and as a Head Start Center Coordinator with migrant workers.
Refreshing her focus on Montessori education, Cathy served as the administrator of our local AMI Teacher Training Center, and as an AMI Primary Auxiliary Teacher Trainer.
Her latest adventures include working as head of Montessori schools in the US and Australia, as an AMI Montessori Administrative Trainer for government school officials and Principals in Thailand, as a teacher’s mentor for the Australian government serving Montessori Aboriginal classrooms in the far outback, and currently, as the HOS of the Montessori School of Beaverton in Portland, Oregon.
