Join us in Portland for OMA's Assistant Workshop. We will meet at the Providence Childcare Center. This informative workshop will inspire assistants at all teaching levels and is designed for both seasoned and new assistants in the Montessori classroom. Jeanne VanDeRiet and Amy Williams will be presenting!
This workshop will offer break out sessions for classroom teams. We recommend attending together with the Guide and Assistant(s) from your classroom! Special pricing is detailed below for guides and assistants to attend together.
Jeanne VanDeRiet joined the Montessori community with an AMI diploma in 1985. She has served as an Assistant, an on-call Guide, a Primary Guide and an Administrator working with both Primary and Elementary Guides and Assistants. She has also worked with Head Start and severely emotionally disturbed children in educational and residential settings, as well as providing family therapy. "I believe that the relationship between the Guide and the Assistant is crucial for a classroom full of life, joy and holistic growth. I love presenting Montessori workshops and know that we as a community have a collective wisdom which calls us to continue our learning while sharing with others."
Amy Williams is the Enrichment Director at Portland Montessori School. She has been teaching and training educators for nearly 20 years. Her work as a movement and expressive arts therapist, counselor, educator, level 5 master trainer and teacher has flavored her presentation with a rich and varied perspective.
