CCAR Legislative Day

The Connecticut Community for Addiction Recovery (CCAR)  2018 Legislative Day will be held on Monday, February 26, 2018 between 10:00 A.M. and 1:00 P.M. in the North Lobby of the Connecticut State Capitol Building.

The purpose for this event is to raise awareness surrounding the current opioid epidemic and the resources available to combat it. We urge you to make an appointment with you your local representative for the morning of the event (February 26 between 9am and 10am) and invite them to join us for Legislative Day.

CCAR has already invited legislators to attend the event, and many are planning to attend, but hearing directly from their local constituents lets them know this is a serious issue worthy of their time.  Not sure what to say? Tell them a little bit about yourself and your story, how local recovery resources such as CCAR has helped you or a loved one, and ask them to come over to the event and learn more about what Connecticut is doing about the opioid crisis and how they can help.

There are many barriers and obstacles for those struggling with addiction but there are also a number of community and state run initiatives to aid those seeking recovery.  A number of exhibitors will be showcasing their recovery programming and initiatives including: The Recovery Network of Programs, Communities 4 Action, Mountainside Treatment Center, The Regionals Youth Adult Social Action Partnership, The Greater Bridgeport Area Prevention Program, The Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services, The Department of Health and Social Services and more.

Legislators, community leaders, and key representatives from state run agencies will discuss what's being done on a state and national level to promote recovery.  These guest speakers include U.S. Senator Blumenthal, State Senator Edwin Gomes, State Senator Marilyn Moore, Commissioner Miriam Delphin-Rittmon (Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services), Phillip Valentine (Executive Director of CCAR), Jennifer Chadukiewicz (CCAR Recovery Coach Program Manager) and more.

If you have any questions about the event please contact Michael Askew, CCAR Bridgeport Recovery Center Manager, by calling 203-583-4702 or emailing Michael@ccar.us.

We hope you'll  join us as we showcase the many pathways in which recovery is possible.
