Dear Cicero Families of Ninth-Graders,

 

We are delighted to announce that the freshman field trip this year will be a one-day retreat on August 18th at Tonto Creek STEM Camp in Payson, AZ. 

 

The retreat will be a great opportunity for 9th grade students to bond together, build friendships, laugh, and enjoy the outdoors. Events will include a ropes course, wilderness survival, and the “Steam Machine Construction Challenge”—all of this while being immersed in Arizona History amidst the beauty of Payson. This one-day retreat promises to be fun-filled and memorable. 

 

Permission forms for parents to sign will be sent home during the first week of school (see attached documents). The retreat includes a full day of activities, transportation, and meals. The cost to families is $60 per student. (Please let us know if cost is an issue; we will do our best to help.)

 

Our 9th grade faculty and members of our administration will be chaperoning the day retreat.

 

Day of the Field Trip: (7:40 a.m.)

On the morning of August 18th, students should report to their first period class at 7:40 a.m. for the field trip check-in (with medicine placed in a clear plastic bag and labeled with student's name, if applicable). Students will remain in their first period class until the buses arrive.

•   August 18 - Departure from CiP at 8:00 a.m. 

•   August 18 - Arrival back to CiP between 5:30 and 6:00 p.m. (Of course, timeliness is traffic contingent.)

•   August 18 - 5:30 p.m. Families will meet their student at Cicero Prep for a pizza dinner.

We hope the dinner will be an opportunity for current ninth-grade families to welcome and meet new families. (A large thank you to the PSO for organizing the pizza dinner.)

 

Additional details:

Food

Bring three plastic disposable water bottles labeled with the student’s name and snack for the bus ride to the camp. The camp will provide lunch and a snack for the drive home.

 If your child has special dietary needs, please inform Ms. Szymanski by email at cszymanski@ciceroprep.org. The camp needs dietary information atleast 2 weeks in advance.

•   Dress expectations: Students should wear comfortable clothes following the Athletic Field Day dress code which can be found in the Family Handbook.

•   Cell phone policy: Students should refrain from bringing cell phones. Cell phones brought to campus must be left in the student’s locker before the trip. Parents will be given an emergency contact number in case they need to reach their student at the camp.
