2017 PeaceJamSlam  Mentor Application

Thank you for your interest in being a PeaceJam MENTOR at the PeaceJam Slam on Saturday, November 4th, 2017 at Manual High School! You'll get to spend the day developing your own leadership and investing in the next generation of peacebuilders. Here's what you need to know:

What is a PeaceJam Mentor?
A PeaceJam Mentor is a person who facilitates small groups of middle and high school youth participants at the annual one day youth conference. Mentors create the space and energy of the event to ensure that all participants feel welcomed and safe to engage in the challenge topics of social justice and world peace. We welcome all Mentors - shy, outgoing, experienced leaders, first-time mentors, activists, educators, you name it! You will be paired with another Mentor and we will make sure you're well trained before the event. You must be a near-peer, which means college-aged (don't have to actually be in college but must be between the ages of 18 and 25).

2017 PeaceJam Mentor Commitment:

  • Attend the 2017 Slam on Saturday, November, 4 at Manual High School.
  • Arrive at 7:00 AM and stay until 6:00 PM
  • Attend the mandatory Mentor Training on Satuday, October 28 from 9 AM to 5 PM. Location: Regis University, Peter Claver Hall, Room 410
  • Unfortuantly, if you are unable to attend this training, you will not be able to participate as a mentor. Please plan accordingly.

Other Requirements

  • Background Check: PeaceJam requires ALL Mentors to pass a criminal background check to ensure the safety of the youth. PeaceJam will be cover the fee once your application is accepted. The results of the background check will be reviewed by PeaceJam and held in confidence. Offenses that are likely to result in disqualification are felonies or misdemeanors classified as an offense against a person or family, an offense against a minor, public indecency, or a violation involving a state or federally controlled substance. If you have any concerns feel free to reach out to us. All situations are handled on a case by case basis.

DEADLINE TO APPLY IS Friday, 10/20. Tell all your friends!
