2017 PeaceJam Rocky Mountain Conference

Workshop Proposal

There is so much wisdom in our Colorado community and we at PeaceJam are excited to create a space to share that wisdom with our conference attendees who are passionate about social change and creating a more peaceful world.

Our request for workshop proposals for this year's 2017 PeaceJam Conference is now open. For 20 years our event has been a two-day youth leadership conference that provides an opportunity for conference attendees in middle and high school to gain skills and insights into innovative ways of addressing the most pressing issues in their communities. This year we are proud to announce that we have added an elementray track for PeaceJam Juniors in 3rd-5th grade. The event will take place Saturday and Sunday March 18th and 19th, 2017 at Regis University.

We invite you to submit a workshop proposal that will empower our youth in the Rocky Mountain region through knowledge and tools to become influential peacebuilders in their communities. There will be one workshop session on Saturday the 18th for elementray and another on Sunday the 19th for middle and high school. You will only be facilitating one workshop session for one age group. We are offering an honorarium of $50 as a thank you for your service. Lunch will be provided for all facilitators.

Middle and High School workshops are 75 minutes long. Elementray workshops are  45 minutes long.  Please prepare your workshop for a group between 20 and 30 participants. The exact number will be confirmed once we've received participant registrations. Each accepted proposal will be asked to provide a detailed outline. We will send exact session timeslots once all workshops have been confirmed.

WORKSHOPS NEED TO:

  • Be interactive and include diverse viewpoints.
  • Provide students with practical skills to become agents of social change.
  • Help students learn about the root cause of issues in their local or global community.
  • Relate to at least one of our Billion Acts Focus Areas.
  • Be inclusive and nondiscriminatory.
  • Be designed to engage elementary, middle and/or high school students uniquely.
  • Connect to one of PeaceJam's Nobel Laureates

**Lunch will be provided for each facilitator and a generous honorarium will be given per presenter/organization
