The Facilitators
Françoise Coupal is Director of Mosaic.net International, a private consulting firm. She was instrumental in introducing Results-based Management to CIDA and has served as an RBM technical advisor for the Asia, Africa and Canadian Partnership Branches of CIDA, UNICEF Asia and Headquarters. Françoise has been involved in building the capacity of hundreds of development practitioners working in the field of international development. Françoise authored various UN and UNCEF Handbooks on RBM and the RBM Handbook on Developing Results Chains: The Basics of RBM as Applied to 100 Project Examples. These handbooks have covered both programme and policy areas.
Francoise holds graduate degrees from John Hopkins University and an M.A. from Carleton University in International Development. Françoise has championed RBM in her work & in a variety of settings in Canada and overseas.
Paula Richardson is a Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Specialist with a passion for using data to make a difference. She has 15+ years managing complex projects and spearheading cutting-edge monitoring, evaluation and learning systems, tools and technology for programs in Africa, Asia and the Caribbean. She has worked and consulted for high-impact organizations including Oxfam, the Canadian Hunger Foundation, Canadian Feed the Children, World University Services of Canada (WUSC), Save the Children, Aga Khan Foundation Canada, Plan International, Humber College, Nutrition International and the African Development Bank. As the M&E Lead for Salanga, she coaches organizations to identify key metrics, craft useful and gender-sensitive data collection tools and implement software in order to listen deeply and elevate local voices and perspectives. She has work experience in Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Vietnam, Bangladesh, India, Cambodia, Sri Lanka, Barbados, Grenada, Jamaica and Guyana.
Natalie Zend is a facilitation consultant with a passion for co-creative learning and innovation. She is a Certified Training and Development Practitioner and a UNICEF Results-Based Management (RBM) Master Trainer. An IAFTM Certified Professional Facilitator, she has extensive training in facilitation methods, including facilitating participatory planning, monitoring and evaluation. Natalie has designed and facilitated 3- to 5-day workshops in Children’s Rights, Human Rights Based Approaches and RBM workshops for Global Affairs Canada staff and partners as well as UNICEF, in English, French and Spanish. She co-authored UNICEF’s corporate RBM handbook with Francoise. She has supported numerous international development organizations in the field application of RBM tools and methods, through coaching, facilitation and process and systems design. Why You Should Attend
COVID-19 is upending our daily lives and how we typically work. This can provide both challenges & opportunities. There is a need to retool, retrofit and adapt current and future programmes to better respond both in the short and long term to shocks, stresses and health hazards. This workshop will help you to more effectively design, monitor and evaluate your programs to face various layers & structures of adversity: climate crisis, pandemics like COVID-19, and growing structural inequities that exacerbate vulnerabilities.
This Zoom comprehensive online workshop will focus on how to deal with COVID-19 impacts in real time in the way you design, manage, monitor, evaluate and report on your initiatives. The workshop will help you deal better with disruption, uncertainty and significant change so that you and your organization are more resilient and better at anticipating and adapting to disruption in the future. We will focus on real time case studies drawn from workshop participants to retrofit, adapt or create new initiatives that are sensitive to external shocks, stresses and hazards, and together learn impactful strategies for adapting program monitoring and evaluation in a time of Covid-19. Understanding the gendered impacts of COVID 19 will also be addressed with strategies that seek social transformation and greater gender equality. You will learn how to use new online technologies to work in teams remotely in a participatory and inclusive way.

What Results To Expect
This remote workshop responds to the COVID-19 impacted environment we are all living in. Using an online Zoom platform, presentations will address COVID-19-related challenges and opportunities to better design, monitor & evaluate and report on programmes and projects that are affected by external shocks and stresses. Short presentations will be combined with breakout rooms for small online group discussions and exercises. Real time case studies drawn from workshop participants will be used to support the development of appropriate logic models, theory of change, risk management plans, and reports that take into account COVID-19 and its impact.
You will walk away with concrete tools (Logic models, Performance Measurement Frameworks that enable rapid response M&E, Risk Mitigation Strategies, Results-based Reports) and examples from case studies and presentations. You will be introduced to new online remote software (e.g. ZOOM, Kinaki, among others) that you will use in your group work and that you can continue to use in your workplace. The hands-on, participatory and practical approach used by Mosaic in its face-to-face workshops will also be embedded in its remote learning to ensure that you learn by doing and that the training is practical and ready to use in the workplace.
Workshop Agenda
This remote online workshop is organized in six x 3.5 hour sessions from July 17-31, 2020 which goes from 12:30 PM EST-16:00 PM EST (New York time). Sessions will be recorded to allow for people to reinforce their learning or take in the recording as needed. The workshop uses a secure Zoom platform (password protected) and other online platforms (e.g. Kinaki among others) to ensure sessions are interactive and practical.
