2014 Adopt-a-Senior for Mother's Day - Danville

 

Imagine if you were a senior citizen in a nursing home and NO friends or relatives ever came to visit you…not even for holidays. 50 of the 65 residents at this home NEVER have any visitors throughout the year.

Neighbor Love wants to brighten the day of a WHOLE BUNCH of valuable seniors THIS Mother’s Day.                Adopt-a-Senior for Mother’s Day is a GREAT way to let a valuable senior know that someone still loves them.

We are hosting a Mother’s Day party and giving gift bags to seniors at Danville Care Center.

Neighbor Love will be delivering gift bags of goodies to seniors during a Mother’s Day party on Saturday, May 10^th, 1130am-2pm at Danville Care Center,1701 N Bowman Ave, Danville, IL 61832.

We will be serving the ladies a catered meal donated by a local restaurant.  If for some reason we cannot get the catered meal donated, we will need to take up a collection from the volunteers in attendance. If you know of a restaurant who may be willing to donate a meal for approximately 45 people, including volunteers, please let us know.  If we have to take up a collection, the total cost of the meal should not be more than $150-$170.

Our goal is to provide a gift bag to EVERY senior woman in Danville Care Center totaling 43.

The gift bags will include: skin lotion, socks, a rose, a piece of fruit, a hand-made Mother’s Day Card, and a stuffed animal. (exact contents of gift bag are subject to change according to availability of merchandise and the amount of donations received)

The investment to Adopt-a-Senior for Mother’s Day is just $20 per gift bag. You can sponsor as many seniors as you would like. A donation of ANY amount is appreciated.

DEADLINE to Adopt-a-Senior for Mother’s Day is Wednesday, May 7th. 

Join us and you can know that you have brightened the day of a valuable senior. And no matter what, PLEASE spread the word about this to ALL of your friends and family. The more exposure we get will help us meet our goal.

If you would like to join us, you are welcome to join us to deliver your bag to the Seniors.

We will also need volunteers to help assemble the gift bags at the Danville Care Center 10-1130am on Saturday, May 10

We could use your help in the following ways: 

1)      Pray for God’s favor on this service project.

2)     Assembling the gift bags.  CLICK HERE to volunteer.

3)      Delivering the gift bags, spreading the love of God, to the residents. Adults and their children are welcomed.  Anyone under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

4)      Donate STORE BOUGHT desserts and/or a beverage.

5)   Spreading the word about the event to ALL your friends. Please forward this event to them and/or post it on your social media.

6)      Adopt-a-Senior for Mother’s Day for just $20 per gift bag.  Sponsorship of gift bags would be appreciated but in no way a requirement to volunteer for the event.
